Below are some tips & experiences sent to me by people that practice the 36 Hour Miracle. If you discover any tips you think may be helpful to others, please send them to me.
- The 36 Hour Miracle goes best with a healthy and active lifestyle. Exercise and eating healthy only accentuates the positive benefits on the body, mind and soul.
- During the first month or so, I stayed away from food as much as possible while fasting. Now I'm easily able to go to restaurants with friends and just drink water. It has given me amazing self-control and it's always a good conversation topic.
- Water! Water! Water! I Bought one of those gallon water jugs with the times and phrases on it from Amazon and I drink the whole thing on my fast days.
- Pick a day and try to stick with that day. I typically have a normal meal Sunday night and then don’t eat until Tuesday morning or sometimes Tuesday afternoon. Occasionally I’ll extend my fast to 48 hours if I’ve had an extra crazy food week or preparing for the holidays when I almost always over indulge.
- If I’m on vacation or have a work function on my fast day, I move my fast to the next best day. I thought it would be impossible to do it in France while on vacation but it turned out to be a "piece of cake".
- TV restaurant commercials drove me crazy in the beginning!
- My one tip is NEVER TAKE A WEEK OFF! I started doing the 36 Hour Miracle along with 2 friends almost 3 years ago. Both of them would take a week off here and there. They both fell back into their old fat miserable lives. One of them got back into it over a year ago, hasn't skipped a week and says he has never felt better in his life. The other...still fat...still miserable.
- The only way I could convince my husband to try this with me was to fast on Tuesdays during football season. I agreed and we've been going strong for over 2 years. We fast on Sundays during the off-season. Doing it as a team has made our relationship stronger than ever.
- My initial interest in doing this was as a dieting fast to lose weight. I did the 36 hour intermittent fasting and combined it with a low carb diet the rest of the week. The pounds fell off so quickly. Now I do the 36 hour fast and eat reasonably the rest of the week. The weight has stayed off and I feel awesome!
- Tell family and friends what you're doing and how they can help support you. Make sure to take pics & document your experience on places like Facebook or Instagram. Any extra motivation helps.
- Whenever I get really hungry on a fast day, I think about something delicious I'm going to reward myself with tomorrow.
- My fast day is Friday. I usually work a half-day, take a long walk after work and then go to bed early. I wake up Saturday, ready to take on the world. I love the 36 Hour Miracle!!!
- I'm new to this but when I get hungry on my fast, I pull back the bracelet you sent me and pop my wrist...I forget about food for a bit. So far, so good!
- I use my fasting day to get back to basics. No internet & no TV. I usually read an actual book. It opened my eyes to the crazy amount of my time I was wasting on social media.
- This helped me get in touch with my inner self and to analyze my relationships. I have mental clarity like never before.
- Keep a journal. This is from my first fast: 3pm-Having another coffee (3rd cup today). Certain I will die of either starvation or caffeine overdose today. 6pm-Just saw a Wendy's commercial. I could go right now, order 1 of everything on the menu and gobble it up without a problem. 8pm-I think I'm going crazy. Looked at my flip flop and thinking I could actually eat it with some hot sauce. 9pm-I think I'm hallucinating...going to bed. 7am- Not much sleep but feel well rested. Not that hungry anymore. Lot's of energy. I did it!
- I had quite a bit of trouble in the beginning but I kept going. It's kind of like going to the gym for me. It takes a little effort to get through it, but after it's over, I feel great about my accomplishment. It's never "easy" but never that difficult either.
- Don't worry about losing weight or trying to kick any bad habits for the first month or two. Just focus on getting through the 36 hours. Once you have it firmly in place, then you can start working on things in your life that need changing. You’ll find making changes easier than ever before.
- I would take a hand full of vitamins/nutrients/minerals/oils etc. every day that were recommended by who knows over the last several years. I quit all of them over a year ago after starting the 36 Hour Miracle. I'm now certain they weren't helping and were probably interfering with my natural systems. I now just rely on a mostly healthy diet and I've never felt better.
