- Why 36 hours? There are all types of fasts and I've tried just about every one of them. I became interested in fasting over 10 years ago and spent several years experimenting with different types of fasts. Although I see benefits in just about any type of fast, all my years of experience and research led me to believe that the 36 hour, once a week fast was by far superior to all others. In short, any fast 16 hours or less may not get you into a ketogenic state and the physiological benefits seem minimal at best. The 24 hour fast may get you to the zone but you're not in it long enough to make much real progress. Those extra 12 to 24 hours, along with the weekly consistency, is where the real magic takes place. Some research suggests that fasting for more than 48 hours can start to become counterproductive so I don't recommend it.
- Ketosis is the key! You should be in slight to moderate ketosis by the 36 hour mark. If you're not, you may be getting calories or carbs from somewhere you don't realize. Make sure to buy some Ketone test strips from your local drugstore to check your ketosis levels during your first few fasts.
- Just getting through the first 36 hours of weekly intermittent fasting is a huge accomplishment in itself. The first few weeks may seem very difficult but as weeks go by, it gets much easier.
- You may expect to be lethargic after 36 hours without food but you will probably notice the exact opposite. I'm always full of energy and ready to go the morning after a fast.
- As far as fasts that include any types of food or juices, I just don't consider them real fasts. Not that they aren't beneficial, I just don't think they get you into that zone that the 36 Hour Miracle gets you in. Black coffee or tea (no sweeteners) are the only drinks other than water that are OK.
- You'll accomplish something every week that most people see as extremely difficult or almost impossible to do. It's something to be proud of and can do wonders for your self-worth.
- Don’t get discouraged if you don't see too many tangible results in the beginning. I look at it like going to the gym and working out. Eventually you will notice results.
- Weekly fasting goes along great with a healthy diet and lifestyle. But if you currently party all night, sleep all day and don't adhere to what most would consider a "healthy" lifestyle, it'll work miracles for you too...keep the party going but just stop for 36 hours once a week.
- People often get sidetracked in life and before they realize it, they've strayed so far off their desired path that it’s almost impossible to get back on it. The 36 Hour Miracle is like a weekly reset button on your brain’s computer. It gets you back on track if you happen to stray off your desired path.
- You may be tempted to take a week off after a few weeks for whatever reason your brain comes up with or whatever is happening in your life. Don't do it!!! Make it your top priority. Don't let anyone or anything get in your way.
- I've seen people try the 36 Hour Miracle but stop after a couple months for one reason or another. There's nothing more frustrating to me! The longer you do this, the more benefits you see. I would say that it can take up to 1 year before many people really get it and start to see the real potential.
So, are you ready to give it a try? If so, you'll make my day and I promise it will work wonders. Make sure to check out the Tips & Experiences page too. Don't forget to check with your doctor before starting.
